Now that I'm completely done with gourd art I'm going to focus on my botanical printing.


Eco Printing: this is a process that can be done in paper or fabric. I'm starting out with paper. After soaking my paper (watercolor paper) in a mordant (alum water) I layer the pages with leaves soaked in a modifier solution (iron water). The stack is then steamed ina pot for a couple hours. Lovely surprises are permanently printed on the pages. This art gives me warm earthy colors.


Wet Cyanotype: this process is also call sun printing. It uses photo chemicals and paper.

The "wet" comes from adding water to the processed page after laying out a botanical composition. This art gives me rich cyan blues and complimentary colors.
